Three of us spent several hours at the garden on Thurs., 8/7, spreading chips between plots. HELP IS NEEDED! Please put the garden's maintenance on your "TO DO" list. There seems to be a lot of veggies ripening. Anyone interested in contributing to a group gazpacho? If we bring our own knives & bowls, we can make it on the spot. Contact Norma Stehle (slabside@optonline.net) if you'd like to participate. What fun harvesting, preparing & cooking together!

We are going to have two wood chip spreading days to gather in force to get this job done. Please join us on Tuesday, August 19TH and again on Thursday August 21st from 4pm -7pm. We need help to do the following: 1) Weedwack/weed around the edges of the garden and in the paths between plots where it is overgrown 2) Hauling loads of woodchips with wheelbarrows (bring an extra if you have it!) to each path in the garden 3) Spreading those woodchips about 3'inchs thick along the paths 4) Gently moving some overgrown plants back into their original plots where possible. THANKS SO MUCH FOR JOINING US!!!!

I will help on Tuesday. I checked the potatoes in the community sections that I had mounded in July and there were some small beautiful potatoes ready for harvesting. We should harvest them soon.

Although we got a late start today (sorry to those of you there at 4p - Dave & Wendy were doing CSA pickup today and it took longer than we expected), we got LOTS done by 7pm tonight. Thanks to Norma and Carl, Bob, Dave, Joe, Doug and Elvis for all of your hard work today. We got LOTS of the new paths mowed down and chips on them and refreshed the chips on most of the paths. On Thursday, we will mow/weed/clip around the inside of the fence and the community garden areas that are finished and get the wood chips on them. Remaining wood chips will be put in the front of the garden and we'll be ready for Monday's meeting (WOO HOO!) We also got the one plot in the middle that was never planted well cleared and Anne plans to till it and cover it with poop for fall planting. We're looking forward to finishing up on Thursday! See you at 4p! Dave & Wendy
