Monthly Meeting
Join us for the Sustainable West Milford Monthly Meeting at Hillcrest Community Center (1810 Macopin Road, West Milford, NJ) in room 7 from 7-9 pm.

Our guest speaker will be Janet Piszar, Director of the BEAR Group, who will talk to us about living with bears in our backyards.  The mission of the BEAR Group is to teach people to live responsibly and peacefully with black bears.

We will also have project updates for you and information on upcoming events.

Information on the BEAR Group:

Native people thought of them as the spirit of the forests. Environmentalists recognize them as an integral part of a healthy eco-system. Many in Northern New Jersey see them as the majestic symbol of the New Jersey Highlands. We see them as a timid—and much maligned creature.

The mission of the BEAR Group is to teach residents how to live responsibly and peacefully with black bears. We ourselves have been educated by Lynn Rogers. Ph.D., the world's foremost bear expert. And we believe that hunting bears for trophies and sport—under the guise of public safety and to lower bear nuisance complaints—is cruel and unnecessary.
