As you know, water is one of our most precious resources and the most important things we can put in our body. Unfortunately, most water is packaged and purchased in small, plastic bottles, which require huge amounts of petroleum to create. Our goal is to educate people about re-using their own personal bottles for water and insuring that those bottles are safe.
There are several reasons we are not buying cheaper plastic bottles:
• Plastic is made with petroleum, a non-sustainable resource.
• Plastic does not biodegrade, it photodegrades, which means that it breaks down into smaller and smaller toxic bits that contaminate soil and waterways.
• Plastic leaches dangerous chemicals into the water they hold.
• Bisphenol A leaches into food and beverages stored in polycarbonate (#7 plastic) containers.
Reasons to buy the stainless steal bottles:
• Stainless steel is easy to clean.
• Stainless steel is toxin-free and non-leaching, which, in addition to being safer than plastic, means that the water continues tasting clean, even if it has been sitting in a hot car all day.
• The stainless steel bottles are very durable and will outlast plastic bottles.
We are selling 40 oz. and 27 oz. bottles from Klean Kanteen. The 40 oz. bottle is about 3.5 inches wide. The 27 oz. bottle is about 2.8 inches wide. Both are about 9.25 inches tall. There are three options for the top: a cap with a flat top, a cap with a loop on the top (convenient for putting a carabiner on to attach to a bag for hiking), or a sports cap. Stainless steel loop and flat tops are available as accessories.
